Itinerary

Day 1Agadir – Taroudante – Taliouine – Foum zguid – Erg Chegaga

Departure from Agadir early morning with an interesting stop to enjoy the old ramparts of Taroudante city. Then continue to Taliouine known as the produced town for Safran. After a few hours’ drive, we reach Taznalht for lunch break. Then, via Foum zguid, we will drive across the gravel desert and pass by a fossil site. Our trip will lead us across the even plane of Lac Iriki, a dried-out lake in a solidary desert landscape glistening white in the sunshine in order to reach the immense sand dunes of Erg Chegaga where there are still nomads living with herds of camels today. You will enjoy the rough beauty, the endless vastness and quietude of the desert. You will experience the constant change of light depending on the position of the sun that turns this archaic countryside into a bizarre dream landscape and where you will enjoy a picturesque sunset from the back of a camel. Dinner and night in nomad tent or under the starlit in a Bivouac.

Day 2 Erg Chegaga - Off road – Mhamid – Zagora - Ait Ben Haddou

Morning departure with 4x4 to Mhamid, on the way visit of the Kasbah of Tamnougalt and crossing the Draa palm grove on track, than joining the main road until Zagora. After a short break in the panoramic view of Draa Oasis and palmeraie, the tour will continue to Ait Ben Haddou via Ait Saouen Gorge and Ouarzazate. Overnight in a Kasbah at Ait ben Haddou, a UNESCO world heritage site – one of the best preserved and most spectacular Kasbahs in Morocco.

Day 3 Ait Ben Hadddou - Taznakht – Taliouine – Taroudante – Agadir

After breakfast you can admire the views of the valley and the famous UNESCO Listed kasbah of Ait benhaddou, which is situated in Souss-Massa-Draa on a hill along the Ouarzazate River. Films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth and more recently, Gladiator were all filmed at Ait Benhaddou, which was once a significant stop for traders carrying gold, salt and slaves along the famous Southern Caravan route moving through the Sahara. After exploring this wonderful site, we will drive back to Agadir or Marrakech depending on your travel plans.
